a couple of weeks ago i had a conversation with my dad that started out by me proclaiming my bewilderment on the subject of the stealing culture of sorry ass mexicans. i have to say that i find it quite amusing to narrate the situation comments and thoughts of this subject in english ,also keep in mind that this conversation probably commenced due to the lingering disturbing fact that several soon to be presidential candidates to our butterfly-filled, colorful piñata-lovin,mole-munchin chela-boozin country, have comitted or at least have been accused of such things. yes robbing. for those of you oblivious to a government campaign of "LLAMALE LADRON AL QUE ROBA!!!!" or " call he who robs a theif" in mexico, us mexicans sadly and as controversial as this may sound, steal.
of course there are the noble ones who could not even say such words, and who will be forever written in the holy books as true examples of our people, in whcih probably by this time in this paragraph , and therefore this sentence, ( asuming you are a bilingual mexican) you are probably saying to yourself, no way im not one of those....
please take a moments time and meditate to a time where you might of heard or said:
"a huevo, chingate las cosas antes de que llegue alguien mas guey."
or,
"pos a alguien se le olvido esto"
or
" pues ya se fue ese guey y ya no hay nadie"
as my father and i pondered the true roots of this necesitty to take, when thous ist not yourdth,,,,
he responded with a smile on his face and said:
the root of the problem comes from our love of piñatas. when we break piñatas and our parents show us at a wee age that we must shove and push to get to the bottom of the goodies in order to beat everybody else at them, ( hahaha) we show apart from positive values such as competetitivity or survival or perseverance, other not so lovely aspects of greed and stealing from in between the toddlers legs of the 3 year old next to you.
( big sigh)
you might remember such phrases as this from your childhood:
"andale mijo agarrale el pulparindo de ahi, apurale mijo mira alla hay unas bombitas eso! eso!"
how can we expect our governors and presidents and leaders to be honest if all of us were submitted to such education?
